i'm wasted, wasting time( - i'm moving on but you're left behind - )a pretty face but the chase ain't worth the prize---------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was crazy how much energy was used throughout the day. Earlier that morning he'd had so much energy before running off to his work study. He'd been wide awake and ready for the day. Maybe it was the wake-up sex that Chandler had insisted on having. That boy had Kain wrapped around his fucking finger. He'd do whatever the hell he said. Not to mention the fact that he knew how to convince someone sitting on the fence. He swallowed loudly reliving the feeling of holding Chandler. No, he couldn't think of that now. He chewed on his lip and climbed the stairs to the apartment silently. To be honest he wanted that silly little weasel to be home right now. He probably wasn't. It was rare for Kain to be done with his work study this early. Usually he stayed later to finish up things and take on extra work, but today he couldn't. He was far too tired. Kain stopped outside the door, fished his keys out of his backpack, and managed to unlock and enter the front door.
He dropped his backpack on the floor and dropped his keys on the floor next to the door. Through the house he dragged his feet on the carpet, desperate to lay down and sleep. When he arrived to the bedroom, Kain dumped himself face down onto his and Chandler's bed as soon as he made it there. To say the boy was tired would have been an understatement. He was absolutely exhausted. The only problem was he really hadn't done anything to make him tired. It was then that he thought of something completely terrible. He frowned, what if he was getting sick? That was the worst thought ever. He hated being sick, not only that, what if he got Chandler sick? Well, maybe he was tired. Yeah, he was totally just tired. Shit, he had to be just tired. He'd feel so completely guilty if he got poor Chandler sick. All he needed was a quick nap before Chandler got home.
He let his eye lids slide shut, his frown turning into a goofy smile as he thought about his over dramatic boyfriend.

chandler had tons of energy, more than normal actually. a lot of the time, he had trouble sleeping and he knew that he definitely would today. "sleeping" tonight would consist of listening to kain breathe. he did it a lot, more often than he thought kain was aware of. he knew that he wasn't exactly the nicest person in the world, the country, or even just the little tiny city they lived in, but he couldn't help it. throughout his entire life it had been a defense mechanism to protect himself from the crappy people that existed in the world, the country, the state, even the city. he supposed in that quest he'd become a crappy person himself.
he wondered if kain was home yet as he wandered through the grocery store. he always worked so much, it made him a bit lonely because he was always home and kain was hardly ever home. he supposed that meant that he didn't work enough and that he should probably just cave and take a longer shift at the diner. he hated working, though. he didn't even like working the tiny amount of hours he already did, but he would take some extra work to help kain. maybe if he worked more the other boy wouldn't work himself half to death.
by the time he finished thinking about it, he had the cream cheese, bagels, and chocolate chips that he had come for. he was hoping to have cookies ready by the time kain got home to surprise him with something nice. he realized that he never really did anything that nice for the older male, so he was trying. if, by some miracle, kain was was already home, he would make chocolate chip pancakes for dinner. he smiled to himself as he paid for the food and went out to the bus stop. he held tightly onto his paper bag as people stared at him.
as he reached their small apartment after stepping off the bus and hurrying home, he couldn't help but sigh. kain was already home, so there would be no cookie surprises. but whatever. he was still excited to see him. he put the groceries away quietly after locking the door and wandered through their home. when he saw the other male sleeping, he couldn't help but grin to himself. "hey baby." he said quietly, trying not to startle him into consciousness. "why are you home so early?" he asked after he laid down beside him and gave him a gentle shake.

There were flowers everywhere and the sky was so blue. He was alone and he'd never felt so at peace. There was no work to attend to and no parents to deal with. It was a soothing place. If he were to believe in a heaven, this is what he'd imagine it to be like. He began to run towards nothing when he heard a familar voice call out to him. hey baby, that sounded like Chandler? Was he in this field? This must have been a dream. The ground started to move. Earthquake?
As soon as his nap had begun, it was over. He was jostled awake by someone. He opened his eyes and quickly shut them again. It was a mistake. His head was throbbing. He frowned. Usually sleeping cured his headaches, not made them worse. Fuck, he must have been getting sick. Kain yawned softly and rolled his body over. It was a painful task, all he wanted to do was sleep. He felt like crap. Kain rubbed his eyes gently before opening them again to face Chandler. Kain smiled at the younger man sleepily. "Hey you." he said groggily. Was this just another part of his short dream or was Chandler really here? Probably he was awake. He was awake because Chandler woke him. That made sense.
"Tired." he said, answering Chandler's question as simply as he could. It was the truth, he had come home solely because he was tired as hell. It had become normal for him to be tired. It was partly because of Chandler keeping him up at night and partly because he was probably getting sick. Kain rolled onto his stomach, his face turned towards Chandler. He was so cute, even when he wasn't trying to be. Well, he wasn't cute when he was being clingy... well sometimes he was cute while being clingy. It was probably why Kain forgave him when he was being annoying.
He was still in his work clothes, that sucked. That wasn't something he was concerned with though. Right now he just wanted to sleep until he didn't feel tired and sluggish. His eyes drifted shut again thinking about sleep. His eyelids quickly opened again and he looked at Chandler. "When did you get home?" he asked softly.

chandler smiled quietly, listening to the older boy for a moment. oh, so he'd come home early to sleep and he'd just ruined it all. wow, he felt like an ass. he didn't admit it, though. he felt bad, probably worse than he should have. he hadn't known that kain had come home out of exhaustion, just that he'd been excited to see him. they didn't really get to spend a lot of time together when it came down to the facts. whether it was school, work, or his stupid mom who set him up on stupid dates with stupid girls that just pissed him off. they rarely got time to just be together.
"i'm sorry." he murmured quietly, kissing his nose. "i just got excited to see you and woke you up... i shouldn't have." he sat up slowly, running a hand through his hair, forcing it into an odd position. he didn't care, it was just the two of them. "i got home a few minutes ago. we ran out of bagels so i ran to the store." his voice was hardly above a whisper. he felt worse with every word he said because he knew the other should probably still be sleeping. "i was going to surprise you with cookies when you got home but then you were already home." he confessed, resting his head on the headboard.
"i guess i'll go do that or something." chandler nodded. "do you want anything in particular for dinner?" he asked, playing with the sleeves on his sweater before standing up. "i'll let you get back to sleep." he nodded, heading for the door. he hung back only to listen for a reply from him. he couldn't help but let his eyes get caught on his form. he'd always looked so good in his work clothes. chandler wasn't sure if it was the tie or the black pants, but something was even more appealing when he was a little dressed up. "we can have chocolate chip pancakes or waffles if you want." his voice was quiet, trying to not disturb the other male.
"i'm really sorry for waking you up, kain." he opened the door slowly, careful to keep it quiet.

"Bagels are really important." he said grinning sleepily. He didn't know what he was saying, he didn't even eat bagels very often. Kain's eyes drooped shut again, he opened them and looked at Chandler. He was so cute, he was glad that he'd woken him up. He liked waking up to look at his cute face. He wanted to snuggle him more than anything, just hold him like a teddy bear and fall asleep again. He doubted the younger boy was tired. It seemed like he was an endless tank of energy. He wanted to do things other than snuggle, he blushed thinking about it. No, not tonight. He needed to sleep tonight.
He smiled. So cute. "You really know the way to a man's heart." and he'd smile. Warm cookies and ice cream was usually everything he hoped for, but right now the thought of food made him feel the slightest bit sick. He shut his eyes. "But we should save that and then we can do it together some night." He offered, trying to make the boy a little less disappointed. He just wanted to hold him and tell him he was cute for trying to do that. Chandler seemed disappointed that he didn't get to do that. How could he make him feel better? It would probably only make him feel worse to tell him the thought of cookies made him feel sick. Kain chewed on his lip, but stopped when he remembered his muscles weren't awake yet. With his luck he would have accidentally bit through his lip. "I'd rather make cookies with you." He smiled up at Chandler. That was a good one. Making cookies together was fun. Raw cookie dough was almost better than the actual cookie part.
He shook his head. "I'm not actually hungry." It was probably bad, if he thought he was getting sick he probably should eat a banana or something. He didn't know what he was doing. He didn't want to throw up though, that sounded terrible. Kain smiled once again up at Chandler. Before he realized what was happening Chandler was up. "Wait, where are you going?" he asked sitting up slowly, rubbing his eyes as he went. He frowned looking over at the other boy. "I want you to get back over here." he suggested softly, attempting to look sad. It probably looked like he was having a stroke though. He turned his body to the side of the bed and stood up.
"If you're sorry then come and lay with me so I'm warm or something." he said walking over to the boy and wrapping his arms around his body. "Please?"

chandler rolled his eyes, chuckling quietly. he loved when kain talked nonsense, especially when he was half asleep. there was something so cute and innocent about him. what it was, he wasn't quite sure, but he loved it. "you don't even eat bagels. i eat bagels." he murmured, touching his hair quietly. "but yes. bagels and cream cheese. it's mostly my favorite thing for breakfast.. so i needed to restock." he said quietly, closing his eyes to think about it. he couldn't stop feeling bad for waking him up. it just kept running through his mind, even as they spoke together. kain worked so hard and he finally had a chance to catch up, and he'd ruined all of that.
chandler laughed, almost loudly. "right. i don't know why you put up with me. must be the cookies? i'm a terrible boyfriend." he muttered, glancing at him again from the door. "yeah.. we'll make cookies together, babe." he smiled. he liked the sound of that. he liked doing things with kain, whether it was baking, or dirtier things. he just liked being around the older male, especially since they didn't get a lot of time together and he could easily admit to loving him. he could probably run away and get married and never really regret it, even if they had their arguments. kain was pretty perfect for him.
chandler looked back over at his boyfriend from the door. "i'm going to stop bothering you so you can get the sleep you deserve.." he answered, leaning up against the door frame. he smiled quietly at kain's attempt to look sad. "i think you're delusional. go back to bed." he laughed quietly, kissing his nose as he got up and wrapped his arms around him. "you know i'll just keep you up." he murmured, closing his eyes. it wasn't often that he actually felt good about himself, and he was having fighting feelings within himself. kain still wanted to be around him, but he'd been the one to wake him up in the first place. so conflicted.
"okay." he whispered after a second, wriggling out of his arms just enough to take his hand shuffle back towards the bed. he laid quietly and pulled kain down beside him. "let's get you out of these." he murmured, kissing his lips. someone had told him it wasn't good to suffocate your body when you were sleeping. he wasn't sure how much truth the words held but he quietly got kain out of his clothes. he didn't try to entice him or touch him in any ways that might have been considered indecent. after another moment he pulled the other's neck tie off and laid, curling into him.
"get some sleep.. you definitely deserve it." he murmured, kissing his nose gently.
