Lucas Andrew Miller woke up that Saturday morning and just laid in bed. He wasn't sure he wanted to get out of bed today but he was sure that Becca would be sure to get him out of bed. Luke sat up and rubbed his eyes, then proceeded to stretch his arms as high as they would go. He threw his blankets off his lap and took a quick shower before heading downstairs and grabbing a bite to eat. Lukey was not hanging around the house today, even if he did want to. In fact, he was going to head out before anybody woke up because he had no desire to talk to his siblings today... Except Becca, but he was going to head out before she got up too. He went back upstairs and chose his outfit carefully, not that he had anyone to impress. He wasn't going to be seeing Poppy today and he didn't need to impress Reilly or Dean. They were just his friends, but he doubted he'd see either of them either, so he wasn't worried. He was just going to the park to draw... And maybe read a book or something. He wasn't going to socialize. Luke grabbed his Varsity jacket because it was a bit chilly and shrugged it on. Then he grabbed his backpack full of his drawing stuff, a book, and a notebook, in case he came up with any lyrics or anything. Luke doubted he'd come up with anything today but that was okay. He'd bring the damn notebook just in case. He slipped his shoes on and then headed out the door after leaving a note. His parents didn't care if he left without a note, but he liked to have them know where he was, even if they didn't care. Luke wasn't paranoid, thinking he was gonna get kidnapped or anything... But he did prefer his parents know where to find him if he wasn't answering his phone for whatever reason. It wasn't a long walk to the park from his house, which was good. It was about a fifteen minute walk and the cool breeze felt good, not good enough to take his jacket off, but it did feel good. He finally made it to the park and sat on one of the benches. There were a couple elementary aged school kids that he decided to sit and draw. After he had a solid outline of the kids, he didn't have to keep looking up so he put his headphones on over his beanie and his full concentration went into his drawing, along with shading and fixing his outline, and all that happy stuff. Lucas was ignoring the world in order to draw. He knew he was good at drawing but for some reason, he refused to show anybody his drawings, except for Dean. He didn't dare show Reilly or Poppy, especially Reilly... But Dean was safe to show his stuff too. He liked Dean a whole lot actually. They were best friends. word count ;; 508 ! tagged ;; poppy belmont ! wearing ;; click !muse ;; one direction ! notes ;; sorry this took so long !

When you woke up early five days a week to go to school you often found yourself in a routine. No matter how badly she wanted to and how hard she tried, Poppy couldn’t for the life of her sleep in. It took a major hangover to keep the girl in bed and unfortunately the evening before had been a pretty mellow one. So, like clock work she’s risen bright and early and got herself ready as fast as possible. She’d glanced at the pile of homework waiting to be done on her desk and dismissed it immediately. Her parents would kill her but she was already failing nearly every class no matter how hard she tried. A weekends worth of homework couldn’t possible make a difference. With the whole day ahead of her there was only one thing she wanted to do. Shop. When all else failed, Poppy headed to every store she could possible ravage.
Browsing the racks, she piled her arms up with a range of dresses and skirts. There was a party that night that she was dying to go to and she couldn’t arrive looking plain. Despite the bursting wardrobe she had at home, nothing got you more pumped for a night out than the perfect dress. She smiled to herself as she eyed off a gold dress across the store, immediately falling in love. As quick as that she had it clutched in her hand holding back a squeal of glee. Poppy didn’t like to think of herself as materialistic. She didn’t need the best of everything, though thanks to her parents she usually got it. She was a girl however and when a girl found something she loved, she had to have it. She could picture the night ahead perfectly now. Her gorgeous new dress, her friends, a few drinks, dancing. She’d never been to a party she hadn’t loved.
With a quick swipe of her credit card she was handed a few paper bags all containing the spoils of her morning shopping trip. With a sweet smile and wave goodbye she was on her way. Picking up a smoothie on her way, she sucked on the straw hoping the sweetness would give her some bright idea about what to do for the rest of her day. No such luck. It looked like she might actually have to tackle that pile of homework. Sighing to herself, she swung her bags back and forth and headed towards the park, a quick short cut to her house. Atleast she’d have pretty surroundings while she walked.
Gazing half minded at the early morning joggers as the passed, Poppy made her way through the familiar grounds. Her head whipped to the side as a figure caught her attention. Squinting a little her face suddenly turned into a smile as she spotted Luke. She wasn’t surprised to see him alone in his own little world. That was often how she found him. Poppy had always admired his ability to get lost in his own thoughts. She on the other hand, needed constant entertainment to keep her from going crazy. With a hop in her step the tiny brunette made her way towards him, thanking the universe for giving her a distraction from a boring day of assignments. As she neared him, she slowed her pace, taking note of his headphones and the pencil in his hand. He was drawing. Since when did he draw? Curiousity took over her as she finally reached him from behind, peering over his shoulder at the sketch. It was impossible not to be impressed and his talent only made her smile more. Kneeling down, she manouvered her hands around his face to cover his eyes. It probably wasn’t the best idea to sneak up behind someone who couldn’t even hear you but Poppy never took things like that into consideration. ”Surprise!” she squealed loudly, finally removing her hands and leaning around to smile at him, wavy brown locks falling in her face as her tilted head came into view.

Lucas had always liked Cody, Wyoming. Even though it was quiet and there wasn't much to do unless you were a partier, he liked Cody. He could have the peace and quiet that he so desired and he didn't have to deal with a crowd. Crowds scared him anyways... Even the small crowd at school bothered him and he just had to escape it all as fast as he could. School wasn't complete hell though, especially since he'd met Poppy Belmont. She was kinda crazy and surprised him on a regular basis, but she was fun to be around. Lukey liked her a whole lot and that was all that mattered, right? He liked Reilly and Dean too, they were his best friends, even though Reilly terrified him. That kid was insane but it was no big deal. Luke just had to take Reilly in small doses. He sort of felt bad for coming to the park without Becca, because she loved the park, but he was glad he had come alone. Becca had a thing for being right in the middle of all the attention and dragging Luke in with her. He had no desire to call attention to himself. Luke Miller was not fond of attention and anybody that knew Lukey, knew that. Lucas Andrew Miller had lived here all his life and that was that. He never wanted to leave. He had nowhere to go really and he was just fine where he was. He supposed he'd probably leave when he was a full grown adult, but for now, Lukey was content. He was happy. He liked Cody. He got to do his thing and nobody really bothered him. It wasn't like he was bullied or anything. He just left people alone and people left him alone. It worked in his favor. Luke didn't know if it was going to last forever but so far, he was all good, so he was sticking with Cody, Wyoming. Not that he had a choice anyways. He looked down at his drawing and then he just kind of faded back into his thoughts as his pencil scratched the paper. Luke was deep in thought about so many things. Color for one. Why were there so many colors? He could sit in this park for hours on end and he'd never be able to catch all the colors. People looked at the park as though it was just a boring old park, that had nothing exciting but the color itself was exciting. There were so many colors. A camera couldn't capture them all and even all the colored pencils in the world wouldn't be able to do it. It was impossible to capture. Lukey's next thought was the fact that he had school tomorrow. He didn't really have any desire to go though and he considered ditching with Reilly... But his parents would get so mad if they caught him, and living in a small town almost guaranteed him getting caught. Reilly's parents couldn't care less if he ditched, so long as he passed his classes. Lukey's parents, on the other hand, cared a whole lot. He had to be in class unless he was super sick. Suddenly there were hands covering his eyes and he immediately closed his drawing book. No one was supposed to see that and he mentally scolded himself for not being more careful. His guess was it was either Reilly or Poppy, neither of which he felt comfortable showing his drawings too. As he'd thought about earlier, Dean was the only one he felt comfortable showing his drawings too. Lukey smiled as he discovered that his capturer was Poppy. "Hi Poppy." As soon as she uncovered his eyes, he stood up and saw the bags in her hand. At this, he raised his eyebrow and said, "Shopping, again? I think you're addicted."word count ;; 648 ! tagged ;; poppy belmont ! wearing ;; click !muse ;; one direction ! notes ;; sorry this took so long !

Everyone whined about living in a small town and while it definitely had its downsides, there were obvious perks. Like you always bumped into someone you knew. Poppy loved being able to see familiar faces everywhere she went. She was even happier it was someone she would gladly waste time with. For as long as she’d known Lucas, she’d felt this incredible level of comfort around him. She was usually so energetic with a constant need to be occupied. Around Lucas she found it so easy to relax. Ofcourse compared to him she was still a bundle of live energy but there was a constant need to be doing something or headed somewhere. They could talk or even rarer, they could just be in the same room and not say anything and Poppy was still happy. He balanced her out quite well and she liked to think that she brought him out of his shell a little though she wasn’t too sure she’d succeeded. It was fine though, she liked him the way he was. Any major changes and he just wouldn’t be the same guy she spent dozens of afternoons with doing nothing really at all.
She instantly felt guilty for having peered over his shoulder as she shut his sketch book closed so quickly. Privacy wasn’t exactly something she’d learnt the meaning of as a child. Her parents had kept a close watch on her from the second she was born so she no longer bothered to keep secrets. Lucas clearly didn’t want her prying though. Not that that would stop her. Talent deserved recognition. ”Since when were you some amazingly talented artist?” she asked with a surprised grin. Why hadn’t he shown her beforehand? Poppy told him everything about her life, probably more than he wanted to hear. It was strange to know that someone she’d known for so long could do something she didn’t know about. ”Hey, by the way,” she greeted him with a laugh, wrapping her arms around him in a hug.
Dark eyes glanced down at the bags in her hand with yet another laugh. ”I thought it was only an addiction if it was bad for you” she protested, waving the bags in her hand. ”Don’t blame me though. I needed these. Some of the Senior’s are having a party tonight so I need a hot outfit” she explained, dropping the bags on the ground and sitting herself down on the grass. ”You wanna come?” she asked with a huge smile even though she knew he’d probably refuse flat out. School was the next day but it really didn’t matter. Skipping was always an option though once again, she knew Luke would put up a fight. Still it couldn’t hurt to ask. She liked spending time with him. In fact she’d probably rather spend time with him rather than anyone else but she also knew how uncomfortable he got around large groups of people. Poppy wasn’t usually that perceptive of how people felt but it was obvious even to her.
